Most of the time, a standard visit will start with a dental cleaning. For this, one of our excellent hygienists will use sophisticated tools to break up and clear away plaque buildup on your teeth and gums. This treatment is able to reach those areas in your mouth that you simply can’t with your brush and floss, so even if you take care of your teeth every day at home, these cleanings are still very important!
Then, Dr. Lee will perform a comprehensive oral exam where she’ll look for the early signs of tooth decay, cavities, gum disease, oral cancer, and more. With regular checkups, she’ll be able to catch these issues while they are still easy to treat before they can really affect your oral health. Based on what she observes, she’ll formulate a treatment plan that will perfectly meet your individual dental needs.

Dental Sealants
Do you have a child at home who is still learning to brush their teeth? If so, it’s likely that they aren’t effectively cleaning their back teeth simply because they can be difficult for them to reach. This is why the molars and premolars are so often a source of cavities and tooth decay for younger patients.
To give them a little bit of extra protection, we can apply something called a dental sealant to their teeth. It is a clear, thin layer of a plastic-based substance, and it will do a fantastic job of protecting these vulnerable teeth from the accumulation of plaque and food particles.
TMJ Therapy
Do you ever get a stiff or sore jaw? Are headaches an everyday thing for you? If so, either one could easily stem from a strained or injured TMJ or temporomandibular joint. This is the small set of hinges on your jaw that allows it to move freely whenever you speak or eat. This is why Dr. Lee will always examine the health of your TMJ during your regular checkup, and if she spots an issue, she can provide effective treatment almost immediately.
Mouthguards / Sportsguards
Did you know that 40% of all sports injuries are actually dental injuries? The percentage is even higher for children! To protect your family’s smiles whenever they’re playing their favorite sports, we recommend that everyone should always wear a mouthguard.
We can actually make everyone a customized mouthguard right here in our office, and they’ll be much more comfortable and do a significantly better job of defending your family’s smiles than anything you can just pick up off of store shelves. We can even make them in your family’s favorite colors!

Oral Cancer Screening
This year alone, nearly 50,000 people will be diagnosed with oral cancer, and many of them will not survive the next 5 years because the disease wasn’t caught until it was quite advanced. To make sure this never happens to you or a loved one, Dr. Lee will always perform an oral cancer screening as part of a regular checkup. She’ll do a visual exam of the lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, throat, and neck for any signs of the disease, and then she’ll use a specialized light that can show abnormalities in the tissue that would normally be hidden to the naked eye. If she finds anything that causes concern, she can advise on what action to take next.
